Oudomxay Overview
This mountainous Northern Province is wedged between Luang Prabang in the east, Phongsaly in the north east, Sayabouly in the south and China sharing a small northern border. Oudomxay is populated by some 23 ethnic minorities mainly Hmong, Ekor (Akha) and Khamu.

Muang xay town (also known as Oudomxay) is the capital of the multiethnic province of Oudomxay situated the Nam ko basin and surrounded by scenic mountains. The town is formed by small villages at an important point of intersection in northern Laos. The proximity to China, Vietnam and the multiethnic influence made the dynamic center of Muang xay unique from other towns in the region. However, in the side streets the relaxed Lao life continues and there are many interesting things for you to discover.
