Champasack is located in the southern part of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic (Lao P.D.R) each person needs to visit the land that includes many marvelous tourist sites. Currently Champasack Province has 206 tourist sites to explore. Among those there are 109 natural tourist sites; forty historical tourist sites and fifty-five cultural tourist sites. These tourist sites have been divided into many tourism areas.

Has plenty of various landscap tourist attractions. Particularly, there are twenty waterfalls. Pha Suam water, which is the most outstanding one, is only 38 km from Pakse on a comfortable pavedroad. On the road back from Pha Suam, the junction at kilometer 21 is a great place to go to try some fresh seasonal fruits from Bachieng which are sold generally on the fruits stands and shops, guaranteed to smell good and test sweet.

The bananas, pineapples and durian should not be missed. Along the road from km 21, You should give yourself of time to see the ironworks in the village at km 19 . The handicraft ironworks products of villagers are mostlyvarious kind of knives. Those village goods are sold generally to the provincial capital and other surrounding districts. The job generates good income for the villagers as well as brings the traditional invention inherited from their ancestors.

Champasack District is a quite district, located in the middle of Mekong River and surrounded by Kao Mountain, there are fifty-eight tourist sites situated in this region. Due to its fascinating features, this District became a region of royalty. 

Several kings had developed itto be a great civilization. Presently there are ruins of old architectural symbols amazingly in different cultural integrations. The evidence from its inscriptions has shown that Champasack region was one the old kingdom of Sethapuora in the 5th century A.D., governed by King Thevanika who may be a Cham person. The location of this old Kingdom is about 6.5 kilometers to the east of Wat Phou and share a border with the Mekong River near Wat Laung Kao and Phanon Neua Village, which 400 hectares.

Wat Phou became a UNESCO world heritage site in 2001, recognizingbe an invaluable ancient place to discover and visit. Because of its location on the terrace of Kao Mountain, you can see the beauty of town, fields and the Mekong River wonderfully from  the Mountain. From Wat Phou down to ancient road (this ancient road probably led from Wat phou all the  way to Angkor there are several historical sites where visitors can worship.

There are twenty-five interesting tourists sites located in Khong District, eight natural sites, eleven cultural sites and six historical sites. Khong district has long and rich history. The Mekong River has built this district over time by bringing soil to farm many islands so that this region is still called Siphan Done (Four thousand islands). The biggest water fall in South East Asia is about 148 km from Pakse district in the south of Laos. This water fall was formed because of erosion of the earth. It is fantastic which attracts many people from different regions to come experience it. A magical three branched tree called: "Many Khod" grows in the small island in the center of waterfall. People in this region believe that whoever has its fruit will gain magic powers immediately, but no body had proven the story to be true yet. After You finished looking at the water fall, you can enjoy eating various traditional Lao foods in the restaurants in the area. The main item on the menu is made from fresh fish that has a wonderful favor you will not forget. One more exciting place to visit is another fascinating waterfall called: Li Phi or Somphamid waterfall which is located on Done Khone Island. Its view was wonderful as at Khone Pha Pheng waterfall. You can also experience living conditions of real LAO ISLAND PEOPLE.

At Done Khone-Done Det village, You can see the ruins of Lao history when Lao became a French colony. Some construction still remains and it also features an old bridge for sending goods from Done Khone to Don Det and back to Khone to load in the ships there. From both islands you can see the old ship harbor, fuel store, old train track, and old train engine. At the end of Done Khone, there is one fascinating  thing that you should not miss. Take a boatto watch the only group of fresh water dolphins in Laos jumping up and down playfully. You can also stay overnight at Done Khone or Done Det to see more beautiful nature and the traditional living conditions of people in that area. Of course, Lao traditional guest houses are easy for you to look and stay in.

You will also want to visit the interesting white sand  beach at begging of Done Khong Island. Many tourist services are offered here such as: boat trip, guest house, and restaurants. During Lao New year in mid-April, a variety of activities are organized in the region to offer everyone a chance to celebrate joyfull.

In the Pakse area, there are about sixty-two tourist sites. There are thirty-two natural tourist sites seven historical tourist sites and twenty –seven cultural tourist sites. It is the first place that most tourists visit in order to see the city’s beauty. There are many French style constructions remaining from when the French government colonized the city. The Sedon Bridge often called "old bridge" by the people of Champask is not far from the Sedon River. The current flows to the Mekong River and result Pakse called "Pakse District". From the bridge, you can walk around to see the old French style quarter. Now home to Lao people which were established when French governed LaosThe Lao–Japan Mekong River Bridge is the new style of construction that is symbol of Champasack Province and Pakse District.

Wat Poratana Sadsadaram (Wat Luang Temple) is located in the center of Pakse District. It is a temple that consists of traditional old style and new style construction with traditional including Lao style, The library, which was built in the last decades and the shrine with amazing wall painting . Excellent sculptors. There are interesting temple located close to the city including Wat phabat temple one called "Wat Tamfai  Temple" and Wat Chomphet Temple. There are big festivals in Pakse District every year you should not miss. First there is the Miss New year Competition in May or Lao new year and a boat racing festival at the Sedon River, this is the biggest festival in the province. This festival consists of Miss Nava Competition and many boats from all over the province that take place in the festival. There is a parade of big Mark Beng (folded banana leaves) which is held during Ork Phan Sa day (Buddhist Lent day) in mid-October. You may also want to see the Stone Buddha sculpture work of the people in Chomphet Village. It is a job that brings good income to the villagers and stone Buddha here is well know by Lao Buddhists. For people who like going to shopping, there is a new Pakse Market, Shopping center and other markets around Pakse where you can buy local handicraft products with a standard quality and reasonable  price.

After seeing beauty of the islands, waterfalls and he living style of Khong Island Jewellers, we welcome you to enjoy the cool climate of Paksong. There are fifty-seven tourist sites of which thirty-eight are nature sites, nine are historical sites and culture sites Besides those, you can see savor  famous coffee. The natural sites consist of Hao Soa Natural Preservation area, Sinxai hill, Nong Louang hill, Thevada Mountain, an old volcano that exploded many thousand of year ago, as well as other places that are ready to welcomeyou to experience their truly beautiful views. After seeing many natural sites, Paksong also has famous socio-economic areas such as: Huoay Hor Dam, Non Soung Agricultural Center located at thirty-five Etou village and Dao Heuang.      

In coffee plantation, you have an opportunity to learn how to plant great coffee. Besides those sites mentioned above, Paksong is an area that still has scars from the war such as bomb holes. In Ong Kea Ong Kommadam at Thong Wai village there is an old dam and army office which were built when it was colonized by French.

Paksong is also well know for many its beautiful waterfalls, for example Houay Xang waterfall, Xang Set Khot waterfall, Xekatam tok waterfall Chetxanh waterfall andothers due to its geography, which consists of thick forests. A plateau and many streams, Tad Fan and Tad Champi are fascinating waterfall only 38 km from Pakse.

The Coffee Research Center at 35 km, en route to Paksong offers Coffee tasting upon request during regular office Hours (08:30AM-04:30PM) Monday through Friday. Here You can also purchase fresh coffee or take at experiential coffee plots on the grounds. Coffee and tee can also be found for sale.

Outside of the major waterfall sites on the plateau, selected stores such as The Sala Bolaven near km 12, offer a superb variety of local farmer’s prooducts ranging from fruit jams to organic wine. To visit Coffee plantation and learn about production process,  either hire a guide from tour company in Pakse or visit villages directly. 

If you travel by boat for 26 km to the north of Pakse you can visit and pray statue Phra Ajan SomletLoun the famous Buddhist monk in the time of French colonization, there are many stories about his capabilities, miracles and highest power, that even Thai Buddhists still believe and respect now. For those who want to enjoy the view from top of Pakse and Phon Thong, we introduce to you the tourist site of Sa Lao mountain, which a place you should experience. The construction of very high stars to get to the top of Sa Lao mountain is complete. Sa Lao mountain will be soon a tourist site on the mountain nearest down town where you can go up for a breath of fresh air, combined with soft and slow music where you can drink beer Lao with your special someone.

After travelling in Pakse and Bachieng, you should go to the Sanasomboun, The northern district of Champasack Province bordering Salavanh Province, about 50 km from Pakse District. You will discover the beauties and wonders created by nature "Hin  Kong" (the fish basket stone) is located on the Khong Mountain in Ban Mai Sing Samphant, then you can travel by boat to the north to see the turtle like stone, which is huge "Sao Hin Lak Khone" and many animals like stones such as: the swan like stone, mushroom like stone and many more in the nature of Mount Xiengthong reserved forest.There are many mysteries waiting to be discovered. You can alsovisit and to see the weaving in Ban Sa phai and Done kho Island which are 18 km, from Pakse Capital District. You also visit the Mon tree plantation, silkworm farm, silk sewing of Khma Yard villagers or the making of pots and jars of Kili villagers which the other interesting experience.
